Student Assistance Program

The New Hampshire Student Assistance Program (SAP) is a school-based program designed to help remove non-academic barriers to learning and support the overall well-being of our students. At McCarthy Middle School, SAP works to prevent and reduce alcohol and other drug misuse, while also promoting positive mental health. Through both school-wide activities and classroom lessons, SAP provides information, builds skills, and challenges unhealthy social norms to help students make healthy choices.

Our SAP Coordinator, Mr. Sam Holdsworth, supports McCarthy students by offering guidance and resources to help them navigate school, personal, and social challenges. He provides prevention education, leads group and individual support sessions, connects students and families with community resources—including mental health and substance use services—and partners with parents and staff to promote a safe and supportive school environment.
