Statewide Testing Information for Families
New Hampshire students participate in statewide assessments each year as required by state and federal law. These tests give us important information about how students are learning and growing over time. Our schools use several assessments to meet these requirements, and we are committed to providing a secure, supportive testing environment where students can do their best.
Statewide assessments are an important part of the overall picture of student learning. They:
-
Show how students are developing skills in core academic subjects
-
Measure progress toward high school graduation and readiness for college or careers
-
Help teachers strengthen and refine classroom instruction
-
Provide additional insight, alongside daily classroom work, so teachers and families can identify and address learning gaps
If you have questions about testing at your child’s school, please contact your school principal. You can also find more information about statewide assessments on the Office of Assessment webpage.
If you intend for your student to opt out, the required form must be completed and submitted to the main office no later than May 5. Forms received after this date may not allow sufficient time to arrange an appropriate alternative placement.
Thank you for your prompt attention to this deadline.
